About Me

Able Creations was formed early in 2009 by me, Carol Mead. As a highly qualified and experienced Personal Trainer for twenty years, I have always loved writing poems and taking photographs. By 2007 I had written unique poems for special occasions for people, which were, thankfully, well received! I then subsequently started to compile notebooks of more personal poems and my writing became more and more important to me alongside my professional career.

In 2008 I gave my first public reading of a poem which I had specially written for an 'important' birthday party for a very close friend! Shortly afterwards I was asked to read two poems I'd written about 'art and understanding', at the opening of a four-man art exhibition at the Ucheldre Arts Centre in Holyhead on Anglesey. In April 2009 I read a poem to VIP guests including Lord Dafydd Elis Thomas, Presiding Officer of the Welsh Assembly, at a major exhibition of photography by my husband, photo artist Glyn Davies, at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff.

In July 2009 I published my first collection of poems "Sea Things" - a 64 page poetry book of 25 poems beautifully illustrated by my father-in-law, artist and illustrator Gareth Davies.

In October 2009 in a dynamic life move, I embarked on a part time BA Degree in English Literature & Creative Writing with the Lifelong Learning Department at the Bangor University, which continues to change my life as well as my writing.

Glyn is a renowned landscape photo-artist and this has inspired me to produce beautiful images of my own on our walks and journeys. I tend to seek out unusual observations and generally see wonder in  small discoveries rather than huge landscapes.
